  • Qatar Petroleum sought to create a world-class financial and business district that could serve as the cornerstone of Doha’s economic activity. The project required the integration of cutting-edge office facilities, luxury accommodations, and extensive commercial spaces within a cohesive, sustainable urban environment.

  • The design of QP District involved the construction of nine office towers, ranging from 16 to 47 stories, each contributing to the district's skyline. The development also included a five-star hotel, restaurants, and a conference centre, all meticulously planned to provide a seamless experience for business and leisure activities. A key challenge in this project was the logistical management of massive amounts of materials, necessitating innovative solutions such as the establishment of off-site storage to ensure smooth construction operations.

  • Sustainability was a crucial aspect of the QP District, particularly as Qatar Petroleum aimed to achieve high environmental standards within the region. The project incorporated energy-efficient systems and sustainable building practices, aligning with Qatar's broader goals of environmental stewardship. The integration of green building technologies and practices was intended to minimise the carbon footprint of this large-scale development, contributing to the district's long-term sustainability.

  • Upon completion, the QP District became one of the largest and most significant real estate developments in the Middle East. It not only enhances Doha’s position as a leading business destination but also sets a new benchmark for mixed-use developments in the region, combining luxury, functionality, and sustainability.

PorterShed 1, Bowling Green, Galway.

  • The design focused on creating a versatile, collaborative workspace by extending and refurbishing the warehouse. Key features include shared office spaces, meeting rooms, break-out areas, and a canteen, all designed to encourage interaction and innovation. The project also enhanced accessibility with pedestrian links between Bowling Green and Market Street, along with bike parking and landscaping that connect the site to the sister PorterShed 2 building and Galway city centre.

  • Sustainability was a core consideration in the project, with the adaptive re-use of the existing structure minimising waste and environmental impact. The design also prioritised the creation of pedestrian-friendly routes and green spaces, further contributing to the project’s eco-friendly approach.

Following the success of PorterShed 1, the PorterShed 2 project at Market Street, Galway, further expanded the city’s coworking space offerings. This project involved the adaptive reuse, extension, and refurbishment of an existing office building to create a vibrant, multi-functional space that caters to over 330 professionals across two sites within the Galway City Innovation District (GCID).

  • PorterShed sought to build on the momentum of their first project by developing additional coworking and event spaces that could accommodate the growing demand from tech-driven enterprises in Galway. The design needed to offer flexible working environments, from private offices to open-plan areas, while fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

  • The design approach included the addition of a new floor and extensive refurbishment of the existing structure to create a range of workspaces, including private offices, open-plan coworking areas, collaborative pods, and specialised production and event spaces. The project also featured the creation of a roof terrace, green roof, and bike parking, along with a pedestrian link to a future indoor market, ensuring the building is well-integrated into the urban fabric.

  • Sustainability was integral to the PorterShed 2 project, with the adaptive reuse of the building minimising its environmental impact. The incorporation of green roofs and energy-efficient systems further reduced the building’s carbon footprint, while the pedestrian-friendly design promoted eco-friendly modes of transport.
